Waiting...that's just what we're doing in the Thomas house; sometimes patiently and sometimes not so patiently. As many of you know, this pregnancy has been less than kind on my body. The month of January brought a lot of uncertainty as the doctors were concerned that Peyton was not growing and he was going to need to come early. That fear was quickly laid to rest when a 29 week growth scan revealed that not only was the boy growing, he is HUGE. We now know that his large size is due to my being diagnosed with uncontrolled gestational diabetes. In early February I found out that not only did I have GD but it is out of control! I am still working with my endocrinologist to get my blood sugar under control. Even 4 high dose shots of insulin a day are not helping. The one positive of this whole situation is that we get to see Peyton more often due to constant monitoring. At last check, 33 weeks, he was weighing in at a whopping 5lbs 9 oz. which puts him well above the 80% percentile. Looks like we will be having a BIG baby! Since I am scheduled to have a c-section on April 16th, my OB is not concerned with me having a big baby! YIKES
We are slowly getting things ready around the house for Peyton's arrival. The nursery has been transformed from a little girl's lady bug wonderland to an all boy Indiana University oasis. Jim did a great job coordinating the project and I can't wait until Peyton understands how much love his Daddy put into his room. Baby laundry is slowly getting done and baby 'things' will slowly take over the house...hopefully before the boy decides to arrive.
Addy has accepted that things are going to change and asks every day if it is April yet. She is convinced that Peyton is coming on April 1st...maybe he will come early! I would NOT be upset if he comes early as I am 100% done being pregnant! Addy loves to talk to Peyton in my belly and give him kisses. She tells us that she is going to be a big helper...hopefully this will be the case.
So now we just sit and WAIT...it is much different this time around. When I was 35 weeks pregnant with Addy the house was clean and picked up every day and all the baby gear was set up and ready to go. This time I have resigned myself to the fact that when I go to the hospital the house probably won't be spick and span, beds will be unmade, laundry will be sitting around, and there will be lots to do when we get home from the hospital. BUT...I wouldn't have it any other way. Right now we are enjoying the last few weeks of being a family of 3!
