We welcomed Peyton James Thomas to the world at 5:27pm on Sunday, April 8, 2012. An Easter baby! Peyton arrived weighing 7 pounds 12 ounces and measuring 20 3/4 inches long. This was a surprise as they had prepared us for a 10 pound baby based on growth scans and my diabetes! His arrival was planned but unplanned at the same time. All along I had wanted his birthday to be 4-8-12 but we were planning on a c-section on 4-16. When I started having contractions on Sunday morning we crossed our fingers and headed to the hospital. After a couple hours of monitoring me and a converstation with my doctor, we decided that Easter Sunday would be Peyton's birthday! An uneventful c-section and recovery followed and after 3 days in the hospital we headed home!
The question everyone asks is, "How is Addy doing with him?" The answer is- AWESOME! She is a great big sister and a great helper. We have had a few meltdowns and battles for attention but things couldn't be going better. It helps that both Mamaws have been around to spend time with her and help with Peyton so Jim and I can spend time with just Addy. Hopefully things will continue this way and we won't have any issues with adjustments!
Peyton is a great baby so far. He is eating every 3-4 hours and sleeping most of the day. We have seen a little more of his eyes in the past two days and that is a lot of fun. His first doctor appt post-hospital went very well. He had gained back 3 of the 7 ounces that he lost since birth and everything else checked out great. We have already learned a few things about the little guy: 1) he does NOT like wet diapers and 2) he does not like sponge baths (nor does Snoopy like when he gets them...she paces and whines)!
We are looking forward to getting to know him even more and adjusting to a family of four. We have lots of fun things planned in the next couple of weeks so I will be sure to keep you updated! For now, enjoy some pictures of the Big Sis and Little Bro.
